Interesting facts about Jitti Gym and Mr Jitti:
Jitti is a great trainer with a wealth of experience in Muay Thai and in training foreigners. He was one of the first to train women in Muay Thai in Thailand and has trained many of the top females in the sport including Lisa Houghton-Smith. One of the great things about Jitti is that he has contact with many of the main promoters in Thailand and is a master at getting good fight opportunies and the right opponent for his students.

Basically, the terms of training at Jitti Gym are straight forward.

Gym Fees:
For 1 month, the fees are 25,000Baht. To my understanding, this includes training 2x day, dorm style sleeping, lunch, dinner and laundry service. One of the trainers was a former Rajadamnern Stadium champ in at least 2 weight classes. Not bad eh?

Location:
Truly a gold mine, Ratchadapisek MRT Station (Subway), between exits 1 and 2. The location is so sweet, you will save loads of money from not needing a taxi, not to mention the hours of priceless time you will save beating traffic with the subway. Jitti Gym is less than 100meters from either subway exit (1 & 2). The city of Bangkok is beckoning you from the drop of a plastic token. If you are interested in a private studio flat, reserved and ready on your arrival, I am also able make arrangements for you: info@chokemuay.com

My Experience:
Though brief, it was truly a pleasure. You may find this story interesting if you have some time to kill.

It all started on June.29.06, while watching mi hermano Jean Charles Skarbowsky fight the terror Big Ben ChorRama6. I thought I was sitting next to a famous fighter, and it turned out I was right, Liam Harrison of Bad Company Leeds.

I’ve always wanted to meet Liam Harrison, ever since they matched him vs. Thailand Pinsinchai, and later changed his opponent to Duwaow. I’d always heard of this guy fighting in Japan, and training/fighting in Thailand.

So we talked, and I asked if I could check out Jitti Gym’s new location. Liam thought it to be a good idea as well, and that Saturday was a great opportunity to go. So I did.

It’s always a thrill for me to check out a gym I’ve never been to. Who’s gonna be there? Will I be welcomed or hated on? I’ve been doing Muay Thai reporting as a hobby for several years now, and I’ve met all kinds of folk. Some an honor meet, others a regret that I’ve had nipping at my heels.

I arrived at Jitti Gym just after their jogging slot. Not too crowded with a handful of men and women training. From many corners of the world: French, Japanese, English; I think one of the guys was an Aussie.

I saw Liam, he introduced me to Sara. Then, I met Mr Jitti for the second time. I’m not sure if he remembered me. He had given me his phone number at one time, and invited me for training. He did so again this day. Mr. Jitti. Khun Jitti. A quiet man; a thoughtful man. A man whose words count and are not wasted; not meant for meaningless facades. So many times have I met men and women whose fast talking, smooth talking, meaningless, superficial, smoke screens end up having no effect on those who listen. Khun Jitti listens, and be sure he listens well. My kind of man. A warrior for sure, a gentleman without a doubt. A gym owner, a keen business man, a generous person, a leader of an honest team. These were my first experiences at Jitti Gym. I look forward to many more to come. Thank you for your generosity to Khun Jitti, Sara, Liam and to everyone at the gym that spoke to me with honesty. C U next time ; )

Julio.
